Channels, Frequencies/Talkgroups and Areas

The Ambulance Service NSW uses the GRN in most areas where its footprint reaches for communication between cars and communication centres (eg Sydney, Newcastle). In country areas where the GRN footprint does not reach conventional UHF PMR frequencies are used. A large portion of Ambulance radio traffic is now carried by data on MDT units and is not broadcast over the radio, however in many cases a brief description of the job is still broadcast for the information of officers who do not have immediate access to an MDT.
